It has been a wonderful Christmas, even though the weather has been anything but Christmassy. The weather all of a sudden went from -9 to 12. For me, it has been splended. I have not needed my second pair of socks or my usual hot water bottle. However, for Basti it has been a bummer. Every chance he gets he runs to the window and searches for any unmelted snow lingering about.
This year, after not finding any appealing wrapping paper, I decided to try the simple look. I used my good ol´stash of acrylic yarn to decorate the presents with festive pompoms or weavings. The first two were fun...after that I was ready to throw in the towel. However, I have a problem with not completing what I have set out to accomplish. So after several evenings of sitting up in the studio I finally finished my goal.
And even though my back was and still is killing me. It was worth it, just to see the look on his face when he saw all the presents under the tree.
Yesterday was a day of getting ready, cleaning, cooking, preparing, waiting. Today has been a day for enjoying, relaxing, playing, and watching. It is nice to see how Christmas has changed over the years for me. As a child it was all about what I was getting, and how much. And now it is all about watching the littles enjoy their presents. I could care less if there is a present underneath the tree for me (even though it is nice). I am just happy that I get to have these moments.
