Today was a day where we experienced sun light, wind, rain, hail, and snow and all of it within a matter of hours. As I sat up here in my serene little space, I could see the clouds rolling it. The sky turned from a calm to ominous. They darkness overcame the village and the soft soothing knocking of the rain drops turned to violent hammering. My faithful companion, Aimy, stood at stared at the sky in disbelief.
Eitherway, I digress. As this crazy weather was going on outside I was able to finish two new items that are now in my etsy shop
The first one a very lovely and sweet pin cushion.
The other is a nifty little granny coin pouch. I tend to be the type of person that has a huge bag full of toys, snacks, diapers, blankets, jackets, extras and only carries a small bag for my items. This coin pouch is the perfect size to carry coins, cards of any variety (credit, insurance, you get the idea..) And its just so pretty and soft.
So, there you have it. Two new items in the shop, just waiting for a new lovely home.
Other things that I am working on are the heart bunny crochet version, some flower headbands for the shop, and a red scarf for little number one. Keep tuned! I will post pictures of the little heart bunny within a couple of days. It is still missing his limbs.
Take care!
Well I am starting to crave sunlight, refreshing breezes, pastel colored flowers, budding trees, and lighter jackets. I am anxious for spring, and as of lately the weather in our little village has had a nice turn around. The snow has melted, and a wamer air has been drinfting through from France. However, with it comes the rain, and yet again grey skies with the occasional ray of sun.
Therefore to refrain from going insane from the lack of color and sunlight, I have had the pleasure to create some lovely newborn flower headbands for my very talented friend Melissa. She takes breathtaking photographs and is currently in Mannheim, but this summer she will be in North Carolina. So if any of you are interested in having beautiful pictures of your family and are either in Germany or NC contact her. It will be money well spent!
Eitherway, I digress, as I was making these pretty little flowers bunnies came to mind and as if it were destined to be I found this beauty on Pinterest.
Bunny pattern from GanGPatterns
I just have to make a crochet version of this adorable little bunny!!!!!!
I have been in a frenzy buying last minute presents, getting supplies, decorating the house, baking, cooking, entertaining......and as of lately my night time ritual is to browse the internet (usually pinterest) to find some inspiration. I have found that my eyes tend to linger on pastels, and muted colors. I enjoy soft tones, whites, cremes, beige, grey. There are so many wonderful things out there. I am currently enchanted by Dottie Angel, and Emma Lamb.
In one of my ten thousand trips into town I encountered these hand warmers in form on a hot water bottle and instantly had the idea of covering them in little granny squares. I think the first one turned out pretty cute if I might say so myself.
Another little thing that I was able to actually finish was a headband for the little number 2.She has the tendency to have her hair in her face. I have tried to use hair clips, hair ties, every thing that pulled out immediately. However, this magically stayed on her head. I believe she actually likes it.
So at the moment as we enter a new era, I am surrounded by unwrapped gifts and balls of yarn.
Merry Christmas :)
Well I had a feeling I would not be able to come around here in a while, and if you were to ask me why...I wouldn´t really know how to answer that question. It is as if there were a time sucking machine somewhere in my little crooked house that is on continously. I wake up making my usual mental list of things that I want to get done, things I need to get done, and things I don´t really want to get done but still need to be done.
I feel ready to take the day, with my coffee in hand as I wait for the sun to rise and the littles as well (I need a few minutes of silence to enjoy my first sips in order to feel energized). However, magically I find myself sitting on the sofa, surrounded by toys, unfolded laundry baskets, and still my unfinished list of things. Where has the time gone? Am I goign to be 60 one day and still think "I really need to organize that closet I´ve been meaning to touch for the past 32 years. Am I the only one that feels this time cruch?
Either way, I was able to get some things done. Like my Christmas card designs, my lovely grey granny bag, a few orders, and several wrist warmers. I just need a bit more time. That would be an excellent stocking stuffer, and extra hour a day when I am not too tired to focus, or too focused on other things.
I was also able to finally pull out our Christmas decorations and decorate the tree. Today was one of those lovely lazy Sundays spent watching movies, drinking warm drinks, and remaining inside. We have had several cold days here in the little village. I have difinitely noticed how even though I have lived here for the past 3 years I am not designed for htis type of weather. MY first clue was when my feet became numb after standing for five minutes otside while volunteering at the Christmas market; or How my skin is so terribly dry and red even after I apply a thick layer of nivea cream for the fifth time in 20 minutes...I could go on and on. Nevertheless, it truly is a beautiful time of year, especially here in this crooked little house. I get to look up at the frosted mountains and contrasting dark brown branches of the trees as I walk through the friendly neighborhood full of Christmas lights, snowmen, and fresh crunchy snow.
Happy 3rd advent to you all.
Maybe some of you noticed my lack of posts. The reason being we were off wandering through the mysterious and fantastical black forest. It was a time spent with Oma and Opa and the Mister was finally able to enjoy the sun live and direct instead of trapped within the confines of his office. It is Easter and The Black forest was beautifully colored. The dark pines would sometimes let streaming beams of sunshine and allow our wandering eyes to look into the realm of fairy tales.
And since I have uneasy hands that always need to be doings something I began Lucy's blooming cushion. It was entertaining, but as I looped and pulled I kept on thinking about little houses, crooked little houses, in rows, stuffed, hanging on doors, multicolored, stitched, a presence of being and happiness.
So off I went to my beloved fabric store and found colors and patterns; all with houses in mind.
I have always been one that writes with music, and depending on the music my writing changes. However, I usually find myself listening to instrumental, folk, or smooth songs. It is a guitly pleasure of mine to wander around youtube looking for accustic versions or even covers of songs. There is so much undiscoerved talen out there and I think it is wonderful that creative people have outlets like youtube, flickr, and blogs where I and others can discover such wonderful inspiration. I personally believe creativity thrives on a back and forth process. You see something wonderful, and try to make it your own, thus making it different. Then someone else sees it and makes it their own, changing what they want to change, adding their style. I believe without feedback and inspiration from others, we can become stagnant.
So, as I was wandering I found this beautiful voice. Her name is Meghan Tonjes. I believe she became wellknown on youtube for her tuesday resquests, where she covers mainstream songs. She has been on Ellen and now has her own cd out. It is a wonderful story really.
Simply The Best by Tina Turner (REQUEST TUESDAY- Meghan Tonjes Cover)
I have been feeling better this morning and have returned to my studio window. I have completed one cushion cover, and have three more to go. However, my supply of blues is dwindling and I must venture off to the great Hela store. This journey would be quite a long one without a car, and therefore my darling grannies muct wait until the mister can lend me the four wheeled wonder. So I have been playing around with my other colors. At the moment I intend on making a variation of this.
And here is a quick update on the colorful poncho.
Here is what I am listening at the moment.
White Blank Page (Bookshop Acoustic Session)
Today as the sun shines and the sky is blue I am confined to the sofa corner...once again sick. I hope this is the last of whatever it is that I have had for the past 2 weeks 5 weeks 3 months. And what to do when all you can do is sit and feel miserable? Crochet.
I had these two balls of rainbow colored yarn and just wanted to play around. So I went on Ravelry and found a cute easy pattern for slippers.
I have only been able to finish one.
Maybe tomorrow I can do the other.
I have just added this Japanese flower crochet scarf to my shop. Who knows if anyone will buy it, but it is there and it is lovely and warm and made with love. I really enjoy making these flowers, so much so that I am finishing up this one
I still need to do the ends and the blocking.
As I was finishing up the grey and cream scarf I was wandering ther web, more specifically Ravelry, and wandered upon this wonderful blog. I lover her style, color choices, and creations. I especially liked her granny square cushions and just have to make them for our little future bench outside. If you do not speak french you can always translate the blog with google chrome.
And as I was crocheting, wandering, and looking I also stumbled upon these beautiful voices.
