Today I find myself meditating to the rhythms of the granny square. Its melodic waves of double crochets and chains are harmonious. They soothe my achy back and shoo away the remaining greyness of winter.
Ahh the granny square, it was the first actual motif I was able to crochet. I had been struggling to understand where in the stitch I was supposed to put my hook to move forward from a single chain to the second row. It was wonderful when I was finaly able to move on to greater things like the third and fourth round. And then to finally see the glorious little granny square sitting on my lap I felt like a king that had just vanquished its enemies. I could have shouted at the top of my lungs " I did it world!!! I can crochet!." Well I am exaggerating just a bit, but it did feel good.
Either way, these granny squares will be part of a colorful poncho that I will proudly wear. I am using this pattern as inspiration. It is mainly this pattern only with some adjustments. We shall see.
Lately I have been on a productive roll. Yesterday I made a baby toy/blankie. It was quite easy, and a good start into the amigoromi.
And not only did I finish it.
I also backed cinnamon rolls...and ate them :)
There must be something in the air, or just the melodic magic of the granny square.
