This winter has been too cold, to grey, and too dark. It has been a struggle with our old single pane windows. The cold air seems to press so firmly against the glass that it comes in defeating our heaters and burrowing straight into our bones. We spend the majority of our days up in the third floor. That is where the heat seems to collect. Eitherway, it is my favorite place to be. There is a hallway where legos are played and chalk boards are filled with colorful lines.
The room itself is a soothing place to be. It beckons for music, dance, creativity, energy. And lately I have had a major lack of energy. I can feel how my body feels out of place surrounded by darkness and greys. I need sunlight, colors, warmth.
And as we wait for spring, I have been lethargically contemplating what to do for the Mister and little number one´s birthday. One is on the 24th and the other on the 27th. I remember back when we were waiting for little´s birth the Mister was hoping they would share a birthday. Even though a lot of people do not like to share a birthday, as a fellow birthday share-er, it is actually something wonderful to have. It made me feel so special.
So for this round of February birthdays, we will be celebrating it at the sea, the North Sea, to be exact. I am fully aware that it is most definitely not the season to stroll along the coastline, but it is always nice to go up there. Even if it will be 0 degrees... At least there the winter will be enjoyable with a roaring fireplace, and the sent of the ocean at your front door.
I have started to prepare toys and such for our trip, and of course I must have some thing to do while up there. I have started to make Lucy´s crochet bag. I love the stripes, and the colors I have chosen. I enjoy their toned down exictement. Instead of using the suggested more chunkier wool, I have been using catania, which is thinner. But it does have a heavier feel to it, and therefore gives it more body. Maybe I will finish it before we leave and go on with either grannies, or continue with the blanket.
I have also just finished my spring bunny, named Lisa. I am now going to get started and her male bunny friend, Eddie. I need something to get my mind off of the snowflakes that are gently crushing my hopes of Spring.
Your vacation to the North Sea sounds lovely Christine. I've been there! When we visited friends in Cloppenburg...they took us to their summer house near the sea. I'll be sending warm thoughts your way from Florida and Colombia. Please...love the winter...now...while you're building beautiful stories, making kiss ass art and dancing the days away in your warm 'attic'. Before you know it...you'll be playing outside!
